Job Summary:
We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Senior Manager to lead our dual engines of growth: securing a sustainable supply of materials through expert procurement and expanding our market reach through aggressive business development. This role is critical for building and managing our vendor ecosystem while simultaneously driving revenue by onboarding new clients. The ideal candidate is a dealmaker with deep industry networks and a proven track record in both buying and selling within the e-waste and metals.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Procurement & Vendor Management:
- Develop and execute strategies for the end-to-end procurement of e-waste and metal scrap from various sources (B2B, institutional, aggregators, formal & informal market).
- Build, nurture, and manage a robust network of vendors and suppliers, ensuring a consistent, high-quality, and cost-effective supply of raw materials.
- Lead complex negotiations for long-term supply agreements, securing favourable commercial and operational terms.
- Implement a vendor performance management system to evaluate reliability, quality, and compliance.
- Continuously scout for and onboard new suppliers to diversify and strengthen the supply chain.
2. Business Development & Client Onboarding:
- Build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with key accounts, understanding their needs and ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Lead high-stakes negotiations to finalise contracts with buyers, maximising profitability and establishing long-term partnerships.
- Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking forums to generate leads and enhance brand visibility.
3. Market Intelligence & Strategy:
- Conduct in-depth analysis of market trends, commodity pricing, competitor activities, and regulatory changes.
- Use market insights to inform both procurement (sourcing) and sales (pricing) strategies, ensuring the company remains competitive and profitable.
- Provide strategic recommendations to senior management based on market data and ground-level intelligence.
4. Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with the Operations team to ensure smooth logistics, processing, and quality control aligned with vendor and client commitments.
- Liaise with the Finance team on credit terms, payment cycles, and financial risk management related to suppliers and customers.
- Ensure all commercial activities adhere to environmental, health, safety, and data security regulations (e.g., EPR compliance).
Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Metallurgy, Mechanical, Chemical), Business, or a related field. An MBA is highly preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of 6 years of combined experience in procurement/vendor management and sales/business development, specifically within the e-waste, metal recycling, or scrap trading industry.
- Must have an existing and proven network of contacts among suppliers (e.g., corporates, manufacturers, scrap dealers) and buyers (e.g., smelters, refineries, exporters).
- Proven track record of successfully onboarding new vendors and clients.
- Expert-level skills in negotiation, contract management, and relationship building.
- Strong understanding of global and local market dynamics for non-ferrous metals (copper, aluminium, gold, etc.) and e-waste categories.
- Proficiency in Microsoft tools, ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and CRM tools.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Results-driven with a sharp commercial acumen and a demonstrated ability to manage P&L levers.
