Job Profile:

The key result expected from the person is a safe and hygienic workplace. The person is expected to develop a culture of health and safety at the recycling plant. The person shall keep himself/ herself updated with changes in the regulatory framework, ensure compliance with it, and adoption of best practices from other industries.  

The key responsibilities of the position are

• Plan, and schedule training on workplace safety processes and procedures. Organize safety training to educate company staff on necessary safety principles

• Monitor work processes and procedures to identify unsafe practices or breaches of safety regulations. Conduct risk assessments and site inspections to identify work areas that pose threats to life and property. Proffer recommendations on risk areas and vulnerable areas such as waste disposal, fire-prone areas, likely noise-polluting areas, etc. Conduct equipment inspections to ensure they are correctly installed and operational

• Ensure that the relevant safety guidelines are disseminated and available to all staff in the recycling unit. Oversee the placement and setup of safety signs to warn of the potential hazard 

Maintain records of adverse incidents, events, and accidents. Conduct inquiry and analyze the incident to determine the root cause. Carry out investigations to identify the root cause of an incident or other unsafe conditions on a work site. Work with the team at the plant to ensure appropriate corrective action is taken to prevent such incidents.

• Take necessary steps during accident or event incidents to protect life, injury to personnel, and damage to plants and property. Take necessary decisions and supervise the team to minimize and mitigate the effect of the accident. • Collaborate with law enforcement agents and investigators to address cases of a workplace accident

Implementation & sustenance of Chemical Safety procedure for Safe-use of Chemicals at Workplace • Develop and implement Emergency Action Plan, Hazardous Waste Operations, safe work procedures 

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

i. Diploma in Fire and safety with 2 to 3year experience in Recycling ,metals or chemical plant safety .

ii. Certifications and courses on different aspects of EHS would be preferred

iii. First aid, firefighting, certifications

iv. Good verbal and written communication skills in English and Hindi.
