Repair Manager – Home Appliances

Job Objective:
We are looking for a hands-on and technically strong Repair Manager to manage the repair, servicing, testing, and refurbishment of home appliances sourced through our e-waste operations at our Roorkee plant. The ideal candidate will have 3–4 years of experience in consumer electronics/home appliance repair, with strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to lead a team of technicians while ensuring quality, TAT, safety, and cost efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage day-to-day repair, servicing, testing, and refurbishment operations for home appliances received as e-waste.
  • Diagnose product faults and guide technicians in electrical, electronic, mechanical, and PCB-level troubleshooting as applicable.
  • Supervise repair technicians and allocate jobs based on product type, complexity, and technician skill.
  • Establish and monitor repair TAT, first-time-right, repair yield, rejection, repeat-failure, and productivity metrics.
  • Develop standard repair procedures, troubleshooting guides, checklists, and testing protocols for different appliance categories.
  • Inspect repaired units and ensure functional testing and quality checks are completed before the products move to the next stage.
  • Identify recurring faults and conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to improve repair success rates and reduce repeat failures.
  • Manage requirements and consumption of spares, components, tools, and repair consumables, while controlling repair costs.
  • Evaluate whether a unit is economically repairable or should be classified for further processing/recycling.
  • Maintain accurate records of incoming units, faults identified, repairs performed, parts replaced, testing results, and final disposition.
  • Ensure adherence to electrical safety, ESD, workplace safety, and plant operating procedures.
  • Coordinate with Procurement, Inventory, Operations, and Business teams for spares availability and movement of repaired/processed units.
  • Train and mentor technicians on diagnostics, repair techniques, safety, and quality standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement in repair productivity, recovery value, quality, and operational efficiency.

Preferred Candidate Profile:
  • 3–4 years of relevant experience in repair/service/refurbishment of home appliances or consumer electronics.
  • Diploma/B.Tech/B.E. in Electrical, Electronics, Electrical & Electronics, or related engineering discipline.
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of electrical and electronic troubleshooting, multimeters, soldering/rework, PCB diagnostics, wiring, motors, sensors, power supplies, etc.
  • Experience handling and troubleshooting products such as TVs, refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners, microwave ovens, kitchen appliances, and other consumer appliances will be preferred.
  • Prior experience managing a team of technicians or a repair workshop is desirable.
  • Good understanding of spare-parts management, repair costing, TAT, productivity, and quality control.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and team-management skills.

Desirable:
  • Experience in refurbishment, reverse logistics, e-waste, used/refurbished electronics, or secondary-market operations.
  • Exposure to multiple brands and product models.
  • Experience developing SOPs, repair manuals, diagnostic checklists, and testing protocols.
  • Familiarity with ERP, inventory, or repair/work-order management systems.
  • Ability to work in a plant/warehouse environment and manage hands-on technical operations.
